Official Google Blog: Traveling by zip-line

Official Google Blog: Traveling by zip-line

Well, to not spoil all the mystery, I suggest you head over to the Official Google Blog to read the post itself before you start here.

What? You've read it already? OK, good. My initial reaction to the post was "Umm ... if they were to build something of a permanent nature, ... will they get into trouble for that?"

As it turned out, they did end up having their construction project dismantled. However, it allows us a peek into what Googlers do and if they are representative of Google's working population, I don't mind meeting a few Googlers myself.

With registration for voting for the 2008 US Presidential Elections closed, it is time to get dirty with RED and BLUE. Which state are you in? How does your inclinations match those of your party? What are you going to to support the candidate who supports the causes you believe in? Please let us know!

Market fragmentation averted

Official Google Blog: I clicked to buy and I liked it

By continuing to build on the two giants in online retailing, and not splitting the market, Google (in my opinion) did the right thing. Not that Google could not get away with their own Google store, but it would be a distraction for a company that has traditionally wanted visitors to get out of their own website and get going on the web.

This co-operative move further strengthens Google's position in the industry as a portal, something that is to serve as a gateway to the web and not replace other components of the web.

Wish you all the best, Google!
