Fear of red: learned or hard-wired?

An article on Nature website (link) from July 31 quotes an Australian research team which has recently concluded that the fear of red in flinches may be hard-wired as instincts rather than learned during their upbringing. Robert Barton, an anthropologist at the University of Durham, UK is quoted as saying that the greater issue of "whether fear of red is innate or learned is an "unresolved mystery"".
