Evony advertisement is not offensive

Evony, the makers of Evony, have drawn substantial negative criticism towards their ad campaign (even as the game Evony gets mixed/good reaction). Please see the wikipedia article for more details on Evony.

Here'a a picture of one I saw just today on facebook.com Is this a sign of a strategic marketing maneuver? Or is it a way to expand their marketing to other demographics? We will soon find out.
